The annual Valley Community Services Picnic was held on Wednesday, June 19 at Cedar Creek Park.
All clients, staff, and administration were invited to enjoy a day of food, crafts, and prizes. About 300 people attended and came together for a well-organized and meaningful event.
There was an area for crafts in which VCS provided birdhouses for clients to paint and decorate as they wished. DSP, Chris Brumbaugh, doubled as the DJ and kept individuals dancing throughout the day. Lots of traditional picnic foods were served; some dishes brought by houses.
There was also an assortment of raffle baskets made by Judy Page. She has worked for VCS as a Direct Support Professional for over 30 years. Judy has been making raffle baskets for the picnic for several years, and VCS is appreciative of her dedication throughout the last few decades.
Health Direct Pharmacy Services also participated in the day’s activities as they have for almost 20 years. Health Direct graciously served sno-cones as well as raffling off a brand new TV!
The picnic was planned by the Safety Committee which is made up of several people that put time and effort into the fun-filled day.
“The picnic is important to the inidividuals because they enjoy going for the food and the DJ, and they love getting prizes. The enjoy the socialization, and it’s something they look forward to every year.”
