Thank You.

While Direct Support Professionals make up more of our workforce than any profession, our corps of 30+ nurses at our Intermediate Care Facilities go even further above and beyond to ensure the health of all individuals we support.
At VCS, our nurses, while outnumbered by DSPs, have almost just as long of a history. They have worked beside our direct support staff for decades, going further than anyone to provide the most intensive care that to support people.
Cheers to all of our nurses!

Meet Heather.
Heather is one of our longest tenured nurses, though, nursing has not always been her DNA.
Starting in 2002 as a Direct Support Professional, Heather has gained many years of experience with VCS before receiving any of her nursing certifications. Her dedication to the individuals she supports has never wavered.
Before receiving her multiple nursing certifications, Heather also worked as a Program Lead and acting Program Manager.
“Here I am, taking care of the same people. They are literally my heart and pretty much like my family. They’re why I haven’t gone anywhere else besides Valley.”

Since opening our first ICF in 1988, nursing has consistently been a crucial role in the supports that Valley Community Services has provided for the almost 40 years that they have been here.
A couple of those same nurses present at the genesis of our intermediate Care programs now lead the same program which at one point, they were working in at the lowest level.
We can’t wait to see who evolves into future leadership roles as a result of the trend of home-grown health management, which we will continue to foster at Valley Community Services.
