VCS joins the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals

Valley Community Services (VCS) has joined the National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP) as an organizational member, demonstrating its dedication to direct support professionals (DSPs), other employees, and individuals receiving services. As a NADSP Member, VCS is making a distinct commitment to elevate the status of DSPs. This includes investing in staff development, allocating resources for professional growth, and equipping employees with what they need to be effective in their roles.

“Valley Community Services has been pushing for the rights, recognition and wages of DSPs for quite some time now. It only made sense to join an association like NADSP that shares those same values.” says G.N. Janes, CEO of Valley Community Services. “I’ve had the opportunity to advocate for both NADSP and VCS at the federal level. Any time you can add a force multiplier to your lobbying efforts, you’re increasing your chances for success.”

Janes concluded “NADSP’s resources will help us better train and retain our most crucial resources; Direct Support Professionals.”

The organization’s NADSP Membership began on August 3, 2023 and will continue throughout the remainder of the calendar year. NADSP Membership enables Valley Community Services to continue our mission of supporting people.

“We commend the organization for recognizing the importance and contributions of direct support professionals,” says Joseph Macbeth, President and Chief Executive Officer of NADSP. “This partnership will help the human services field improve practice standards, promote system reform, and advance the knowledge, skills, and values of DSPs.”

With NADSP Membership, VCS’s employees will have access to a robust library of archived webinars and resources on subjects that are important to DSPs, receive e-newsletters, take advantage of discounted rates for the NADSP E-Badge Academy, and apply a 10% discount for NADSP Training and Curriculum offerings. Along with these member benefits, VCS will be featured on NADSP’s website, highlighting their dedication to the people they employ, and in turn, the people they support.
